Belong - Believe - Become
In the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, Christ uses the anointing and prayers of the priest to give comfort and strength to the soul and sometimes to the body of one seriously ill. We recognize in Jesus the desire of God to bring healing in many dimensions. We meet Christ to receive His healing comfort, strength, and pardon. Anyone who is seriously ill, mentally or physically, may take part in it - or one who is weak from old age.
The Sacrament is not to be repeated as a regular and periodic spiritual medication, but is normally used once for a given illness. Any who are preparing for surgery should request Anointing before going into the hospital. But those with a chronic illness that takes a serious turn are encouraged to approach the Sacrament again.
The Sacrament is offered at St. Patrick's by appointment.
